Discover the Best Restaurants in Tarzana

Although Tarzana covers only 8.79 of Los Angeles’ massive 4,000 square miles, it packs a punch with these hidden foodie gems. It was hard to narrow them down, but I’ve compiled a list of my favorite spots.

Wanderlust Creamery

The name says it all. Wanderlust Creamery serves up unbelievable flavors all year round (and great seasonal flavors). They also have the legendary "ice cream flight" where you can try up to 14 different flavors in small cones. They're open until 11pm for those late night ice cream lovers.

Ubatuba

Ubatuba started as a small acai bowl spot, and recently purchased the space next door to expand their operation. It's a very casual spot to get a bowl of acai or some Brazilian style empanadas. They have several empanada specials including 3 for $10, 6 for $19, and 12 for $36.

Pozi’s Fresh Grill

I'd like to call this place one of The Valley's hidden gems for quick (but delicious) mediterranean food. Cradled in a shopping center across from Whole Foods on Ventura Blvd, the small, cafeteria style spot is perfect for lunch or a quick dinner. Oh, they also have gelato.

Cici’s

This trendy brunch restaurant makes sure you leave with a happy stomach and a great pancake photo for your instagram. Enjoy some of their favorites like the Green Tea Tiramisu, Apple Crumble, and Strawberry Cheesecake pancakes. However, arrive ready to comb through a menu that is 10+ pages and plan for very, very long waits on the weekends.

Blu Jam

Luckily, you can find these all across The Valley. There is often a wait on the weekends but I'd say the wait is definitely worth it. Their classic crispy french toast is one of my favorite brunch dishes (and i'm definitely more of a savory bruncher). For all of my vegans, they make a mean tofu hash and tofu based huevos rancheros.

The Carving Board

The perfect union of craft sandwiches and classic ones. This casual spot offers sandwiches, salads and a killer goat cheese tomato soup. Best of all, all meals are served on a carving board (haha). And if you're a fan of all things sweet, be sure to try the fried Oreos for desert.

Hummus Bar & Grill

Come here for some authentic, delicious Mediterranean food and awesome vegetarian and vegan options. FYI: their pita bread is homemade to order, which is always a plus. This place definitely has a more upscale ambiance in the evenings (great for date nights!) and I would consider it one of the better Mediterranean spots on our side of The Valley.

Thai BBQ

Again, I might be biased because this place is 0.1 miles away from my parents house and we get free take out delivery... but this spot serves up some delicious, authentic Thai food with a friendly staff. My personal favorites are their Papaya Salad and Tom Kha soup, two great starter dishes. Additionally, they offer a lunch special M-F 11am-3pm.

El Patron

Two words: Happy. Hour. The Mexican food here is pretty good, but the main event is most definitely the happy hour on M-F from 1-6pm. The happy hour deal includes beers and house margaritas for $5. Parking is scarce though so be aware. [CLOSED IN 2019]

Sol y Luna

Notorious for their long lines and great decor, Sol y Luna is a Valley favorite. They offer classic Mexican food favorites, along with seasonal dishes and happy hour M-F 3-6pm. Be sure to make a reservation or get there early to beat the line and get a prime seat.

Kushiyu

This one is for all of my sushi fanatics. This place serves up some delicious and fresh sushi (including a very interesting lemon roll), but we aren't the only ones who know that so be sure to make a reservation for dinner. Also, keep an eye on their M-F hours that are 11:30 am - 2:15 pm and 5:30 pm - 10:15 pm. On Saturday & Sunday they're only open during dinner time. Although it's a bit on the expensive side, it's most definitely worth it.

Kravings

One of the nicest date night spots on this list. Conveniently located in the same shopping center as Pozi's (mentioned above), they boast a romantic ambiance and some delicious Brazilian meat options. They're only open for dinner on week days but they serve brunch on Saturday and Sundays. Check out their promotions updated weekly

Arcwood Wine Bar

One of the newer additions to the Tarzana area, the Arcwood wine bar is exactly what we needed. The classy ambiance provides a fun atmosphere for tapas and wine. They also have happy hour seven days a week from 5-6:30pm. (Pro Tip: If you check in with Yelp, you get 10% off all food items).
